August is back-to-school season for many folks, including my own nephew and niece. For all of you impacted by this season, I wish you blessings for the new year. I love that back-to-school season so closely aligns with Virgo season because studies, studiousness, teachers, and teaching are major Virgo themes.

This week not only kicks off Virgo season, but it’s also the first of TWO new moons in the sign of Virgo, with the second one being a solar eclipse just over a month from today.

Fun fact: the second of two consecutive new moons in the same zodiac sign (or in the same calendar month) is considered a “black moon.” Not to be confused with a “blue moon,” which is the second of two consecutive full moons in the same sign or month.

That means our solar eclipse will also be a rare black moon. As for this week’s new moon, though, it’s not an eclipse, but it’s sort of like an eclipse preview. (If you’re curious about why, just hit reply! 😉)

So, true to the season, let’s see what lessons we can learn from Virgo energy ♍️

Flavor of the Week 😋

It’s the season to hone your craft and to indulge in the details of the things you love.

I asked for a tarot card to go along with the astrology for this week, and the universe could not have been more on the nose. The start of Virgo season means that from our vantage point on Earth, the Sun is moving across the constellation of stars known as Virgo. And the tarot card I got was the Eight of Pentacles, which literally corresponds to the Sun in Virgo!

When the Sun is in a particular sign, it puts a spotlight on that energy and emphasizes those themes in some area of our lives. If you can see from the image of Manzel’s depiction of the Eight of Pentacles, Sun in Virgo has a lot to do with focused, detailed work and craftsmanship.

Two mega celebrities (like them or not) known for obsessing over the details of their craft are Michael Jackson and Beyonce. Both are Virgos.

But we have the option of channeling Virgo energy, whether we were born in Virgo season or not. And happy birthday if you were! 🥳

Because of where Virgo is located in my personal birth chart, I like channeling my detail oriented, high standards Virgo energy into my home specifically. Having a clean, organized, and tidy home helps me regulate my nervous system, which is also associated with Virgo. I feel like that’s my foundation, and I’m ready for whatever the day brings.

And of course detail oriented decorating just brings me unreasonable amounts of pleasure and delight!

You might delight in the specifics of helping your loved ones be well, or the minutia of spreadsheets and accounting for a personal budget, or the logistics of scheduling the itinerary for your family vacation down to the hour, or the finesse of a beautiful and effective tennis serve…

Baby, what I’m saying is, recognize that thing in your life that makes you want to be all up close, dissecting and polishing the details. And be unapologetic with it!

BONUS PRO TIP: Take note of whether or not doing this helps regulate your nervous system as well 😉

Open Mic 🎤

For this week’s Open Mic feature, I present to you a Virgo like no other, Alice Coltrane! 🎼 A one of a kind musician and composer. The muse for A Love Supreme herself. I’ve used her music for some of my Instagram content before when I want that ethereal sound. Below is a live performance of her playing the harp in 1987. Let it play and let it heal you.

Sincerely,
