Tuning IN-ward - There's a Message for You
Your Weekly Refill June 23, 2025

Hey Beautiful! (Listen on YouTube)
How well do you listen to your inner wisdom and intuition? There’s information and insight trying to reach you, and discerning it more clearly requires quiet, solitude, reflection, maybe even meditation.
Prayer is helpful to ask for clarity, yet most times we forget to quietly wait for a response. “Quietly” can mean literal silence and solitude. Or it can mean moving through your days with a deeper presence, attunement, awareness, openness, and receptiveness.
“Be still and know…”
Flavor of the Week 😋
Two tarot cards and three astrological events blend with my intuition to create our Flavor of the Week: Tuning IN-ward.
The Hermit in tarot has been on a journey into uncharted realms, often navigating through the dark with nothing but the pin point of starlight held in their own hand. Under our current skies, we just might have extra motivation for paying attention to the details, the refinement, and the quality of our communications (among other things).
The Seed of Air (better known as The Page of Swords in tarot) speaks directly to Mercury moving out of the watery, intuitive, dark womb of Cancer into the blazing sunlight of Leo. Before this happens, it may be helpful to spend the last few days of Mercury in the sign of Cancer being intentionally reflective. Especially since those last days coincide with the darkness of a new moon also in the sign of Cancer! The new moon will nourish your practices of reflection, inner sight, and intuitive clarity.
This is a particularly blessed new moon because it’s with Jupiter, the planet of luck, blessings, abundance, and also higher knowledge and wisdom. Jupiter is the well-travelled sage, much like The Hermit in tarot. Jupiter is really strong and potent now, which is even better!
The universe is making beautiful waves, and it calls us to align and flow with these energies in a meaningful way. After all, we are the ones who create meaning, so no matter what the universe serves this week, it helps to meet it with awareness and a spirit of co-creation.
The Lineages of Change tarot deck pairs one of our cards with a quote by Ella Baker:
“Give light and people will find the way.”
The Sun is our brightest source of light on any given day, and this week it comes into the expanding force of our cosmic magnifying glass—Jupiter. The Sun spotlights Jupiter’s good fortune and greater wisdom while Jupiter magnifies and expands the brilliant light rays of the Sun. Many astrologers consider this to be “the luckiest day of the year” when the Sun meets Jupiter in the sky. It happens every year, but having Jupiter in the zodiac sign where it’s exalted only happens once ever 12 years. So might this be the “luckiest day” of the decade?
I dare not be the one to make such a grand claim. You, after all, have the power to make your own luck any time you want 😉.
Nevertheless, I want to say this could be an expanded window into something our soul has been consciously or unconsciously puzzling over or ruminating on. And with Mercury in the same sign, we just might get that epiphany—mental, emotional, or intuitive. It may also come by way of your dreams…
“It’s time to shape your inner landscape. Remember your deepest inner purpose and destiny that gives you the most pleasure. This is dream work; sleeping or daydreaming, it’s time to wander within.”
If you’re inclined, pay attention to your dreams, sleeping or waking. Maybe record them, write them down, or journal about them.
Even though the night sky is darkest during a new moon, our inner light is shining as brightly as ever, if we have the notion to seek it and tune in-ward. Go there and set your new moon intentions.
The other side of communication is what you transmit. With these energies, we want to communicate from our soul’s knowing, our deeper wisdom, and we want to be good stewards of our language. For now at least, go beyond regurgitating propaganda, popular opinion, trending headlines, or conditioned opinions.
Whether you’re initiating a dialogue or responding to someone else, pay attention to the details of what’s communicated explicitly and implicitly. Practice the courage and integrity to speak the truths you have. Doing so could very well provide a pin point of light for another person to find their way.
What’s Brewing ☕️
Marathon training is going better than ever now that I have knee braces and a local running crew! My running helps support children receiving cancer treatments at St. Jude Children’s Hospital. If you’d like to make a donation, you can send any amount through the St. Jude portal or Cash App/Venmo @ColorismHealing.
Speaking and coaching is expanded to include colorism, of course, and all the things I now teach about in my weekly refills. Let me know if you’d like to discuss working with me!
The book title is still under construction. We thought we landed on something, but in conjunction with our cover designers, we’re hoping to craft something more “vocal.” July and August, I’ll be deep in the process of revising the manuscript based on my editor’s notes, and I’m excited to dive back in!
Open Mic 🎤
I could not find audio and video of Ella Baker’s “Give light” speech, but I wanted to make her the featured voice for this week’s Open Mic (formerly Pastry & Poetry) segment. Ella Baker brings me back to my years in Oakland, CA where I often passed by the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights. I have not studied her life and work the way I have other ancestors, but I know of it, and I trust she’s coming forward now for a purpose.
Much Love,
Dr. Sarah
